To set it the first time, stand the paddle upright beside you and extend it to roughly 20 cm (8 inches) above your height. Reach up and your wrist should rest comfortably over the handle. From there, shorten it slightly for surf and wave riding, or lengthen it a little for flatwater cruising, until the stroke feels natural.
How do I lock the length in place?
Grip the adjuster clip between your thumb and forefinger and gently pop it out to release the clamp. Slide the shaft to your setting, then press the clip back down to lock it.
